MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The representatives of various student organisations in Azad Kashmir on Saturday rejected the Student Action Committee, calling it a disruptive and unauthorised group.
These views were expressed by representatives of MSF, PSF, ISF, Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba, and other student organisations during a press conference at the Central Press Club, Muzaffarabad.
The student body representatives condemned police violence against students but appreciated the government’s positive engagement in resolving the issues faced by students.
Condemning the Student Action Committee of Joint Awami Action Committee, the student representatives said that the committee exploited recent events and manipulated students for their own agenda.
“These individuals, who have no connection to the university or its students, are trying to lead the students with ulterior motives,” he said.
The student leaders emphasized that the students’ primary goal is education, not to engage in protests or slogan-shouting.
Furthermore, the student organisation representatives warned these elements to keep their objectives away from the university and its students.
Later, they demanded that the government and the police take action to prevent these mischievous elements from entering the university and spreading hatred and propaganda.
The student leaders also expressed concerns about attempts to spread the trend of drug abuse among students, terming it a “drug committee”.
“Such elements who have dozens of FIRs against them and are not even students themselves, they are not representatives of the students,” he said.
Moreover, the student representatives added that a few elements that have nothing to do with the students are announcing the formation of a student action committee, which the students rejected in a bad way.
In addition to that, the representative of student bodies said that due to the struggle of the students, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK) had to go home.
