MIRPUR (Kashmir English): President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry has said that Kashmiris living in the United States must redouble their efforts to sensitise the world about early and amicable settlement of Kashmir dispute.

He said this while addressing a reception hosted in his honour by Dr. Shahzad in New York.

Worsening HRs situation in occupied Kashmir

Referring to the worsening political and Human Rights situation in the occupied Kashmir, the President said that the massive military presence in the Occupied Kashmir was the major cause of ongoing bloodshed and violence in the region.

“Nearly, nine lakh Indian army deployed at every nook and corner of the disputed territory has turned it into a living hell for its citizens”, the President said, adding that the Indian occupation forces were involved in war crimes.

He, however, maintained that despite using all means of oppression, the Indian government has miserably failed in its nefarious designs aimed at suppressing the Kashmiris’ ongoing freedom struggle.

Praising the Kashmiri people for their resilience in the face of Indian state terrorism, the President said that India must bear in mind the fact that it cannot subdue Kashmiris by the dint of its military might.

Lauding the supreme sacrifices rendered by the Kashmiri nation, he expressed the optimism that the matchless sacrifices of the Kashmiri martyrs would never go in vain.

Highlighting the Kashmiris’ decades-long struggle for their inalienable right, he said that it was quite unfortunate that the international community has not shown the level of interest and vigour to resolve the lingering Kashmir issue, which it had shown to resolve other world disputes.

He said that the global community should play its due role to help stop the ongoing bloodshed and human rights violations in Indian occupied Kashmir.
