MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Kashmir High Court has summoned the Local Government Department on September 15 against the release of funds to the MLAs.
The court had ruled in the light of the Local Government Act 1990 and the Rules of Business of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir State Government that members of the Legislative Assembly cannot use development funds.
The court also asked the council, Barrister Humayun Nawaz Khan, of the local government members why the delay was made in approaching the court if the funds were not allocated to the local government members.
Answering the bench, the Council said that the gazette notification of the budget was made in July, and we filed a writ petition in August, which was delayed due to the judicial vacation.
Moreover, no documentary evidence was available of the use of development funds by the MLAs.
The High Court ordered the Assistant Attorney General to produce all the records and adjourned the hearing till September 15.
Additionally, More than four thousand local government representatives are consulting again for a movement after the government did not provide them with powers and funds.
The members may initiate a movement that includes a vigorous protest, detachment from their parties, and legal action.
