MIRPUR (Kashmir English): District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Fida Hussain Raja paid a surprise visit to surprise visit to THQ Dadyal, where doctors were found performing their duties in all departments as per routine. During the visit, Dr Raja inspected the hospital’s stock of medicines.

In the presence of media representatives and civil society members, the DHO thoroughly examined the inventory of all medicines, which included an ample supply of essential drugs as well as vaccines for snake bites and dog bites.

During the visit, Medical Superintendent Dr Nadeem Fazaldad briefed the DHO, stating that an average of 350 patients are examined daily in the hospital’s OPD.

He further shared that Rs5 million have been allocated for emergency services and Rs. 6 million for regular hospital operations. The hospital is equipped with lab facilities, an X-ray department, and other necessary diagnostic services.

Under the health package, new facilities have been approved in Dadyal, including the Rural Health Center in Siyaakh, three new Basic Health Units (BHUs) in Onaah, Thara, and Raipur, and four First Aid Posts in Kaljore, Neeli Syedan, Tarutta, and Thara.

All BHUs in Dadyal, Azad Jammu and Kashmirs (AJK) have now been staffed with medical officers.

Medical officers have been appointed at Rural Health Center Siyaakh, Rural Health Center Khadimabad, the DHO office in Dadyal, BHUs in Thara, Onaah, Dagar, Soorakh, Raipur, and Beli Bathar.

THQ Hospital Dadyal is the only hospital in Azad Kashmir that offers facilities comparable to a Divisional Headquarters Hospital. Under the November 2024 health package and through the efforts of Minister of State Chaudhry Azhar Sadiq, three new posts, Cardiologist, Radiologist, and Child Specialist, have been created for the hospital and will soon be filled.

The District Health Officer instructed the newly appointed medical officers to ensure regular attendance and observe working hours strictly. He also discussed professional responsibilities with them during the visit.
