MIRPUR (Kashmir English): The federal government has introduced the Point-of-Sale (POS) system in AJK, starting in Mirpur, to digitise transactions, enhance tax transparency, and curb evasion, with officials and business leaders attending the launch led by PRAL and CBR, yesterday.

The federal government expanded the Point-of-Sale (POS) system to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) businesses which now utilizes Pakistan’s digital taxation complex to enhance transparency while minimizing tax evasion efforts.

On Sunday, the inauguration ceremonies were attended by key government officials for the implementation of this modernization project through a partnership between Pakistan Revenue Automation (Pvt) Ltd (PRAL) and the Central Board of Revenue (CBR) AJK.

The system deployment began at Khaadi and KFC in Mirpur territory before continuing into other regions of the area. The initiative supports the government’s approach to digitalising economic transactions by establishing instant business documentation and by introducing the POS system in AJK to curb issues like tax evasion.

The inauguration events received attendance from the most senior minister Col (R) Waqar Noor alongside Minister for Development Azhar Sadiq, Minister for Law Mian Waheed and Chamber of Commerce representative delegates. The officials at PRAL included General Manager-SD Abid Naeem together with Head of Commercials Farheen Azhar.

The attendees at the event showed that the POS system brings along economic accountability with its fundamental transformation of the system while enhancing its technological capabilities. The digital transaction recording feature within this system prevents tax revenue losses by minimizing errors that occur from manual processes.

The government aims to expand the POS network across the entire country to create an inclusive financial environment and boost transparency. The digital transformation effort received continued backing from PRAL together with proper execution support from the organization.

The officials conducted talks to accelerate digital integration in AJK after the inauguration with the objective of upgrading financial documentation while bettering business operations throughout the region.
