MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have rejected the protest call of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC). Life in Azad Kashmir is going as usual.
All business centers, shops, and educational institutions are open as per schedule. Residents say that in the event of a complete lockdown, the daily wage earners and small businesses, who are already facing economic pressure, will be the most affected. According to them, all parties should adopt the path of dialogue and understanding to resolve the issues.
Residents also expressed concern that if the protests turn violent, it could have a negative impact on the peace and order and social harmony of the area.
They said that maintaining a peaceful environment despite differences is everyone’s shared responsibility. According to some traders and residents of Mirpur, several markets and business centers remained open as usual in the city, and daily activities continued.
They said that the continuity of economic activities is important for the local population. The citizens demanded that all the concerned parties, avoiding stubbornness, come to the negotiating table and find solutions to the public problems through constitutional, legal, and democratic means.
According to them, dialogue is the most effective way for long-term stability and public interest. Local circles say that maintaining a peaceful environment and economic activities in Azad Kashmir is the need of the hour, while meaningful negotiations should be given priority to resolve public demands and concerns.
