Karachi temperature likely to rise between 39°C to 42°C until June 12

KARACHI (Kashmir English): Moderate to severe heatwave conditions are likely to prevail across most districts of Sindh from June 8 to 12 with Karachi expected to experience intense heatwave during the said period.

A high-pressure system has developed in the upper atmosphere, which may further strengthen by today, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said adding, under the influence of this system, in Karachi, heatwave conditions are expected to persist during the same period, with maximum temperatures likely to rise between 39°C to 42°C.

According to the PMD forecast, in interior Sindh, extremely hot weather is expected in several districts.

Temperatures in Sukkur, Shikarpur, Qambar Shahdadkot, Jacobabad, Larkana, Mohenjo Daro, Shaheed Benazirabad, Ghotki, Khairpur, and Naushahro Feroze may range between 48°C to 51°C.

Meanwhile, in Tharparkar, Badin, Hyderabad, Matiari, Tando Muhammad Khan, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Jamshoro, and Sanghar, temperatures are likely to remain between 42°C to 45°C.

The Met office has also warned that due to intense heat, dust storms and strong winds may occur at isolated places in the plains of the province.

Currently, whole of the country is experiencing a severe heatwave with the experts predicting above-normal temperatures through August.
