CHAMAN (Kashmir English): In a tragic incident, a blast occurred near the Chaman railway crossing in Quetta, causing panic in the area.
The powerful explosion took place very close to the Jaffar Express, resulting in severe damage to a coach of the train and a sudden fire breaking out in it.
According to the Assistant Chief Minister of Balochistan, Shahid Rind, 14 people died while several others were injured in the tragic incident. After the explosion, the injured were immediately shifted to the hospital for medical assistance.
According to the police, the explosion partially damaged the train and severely damaged four nearby vehicles. The echo of the explosion was heard far and wide, spreading panic throughout the area and shattering the windows of nearby buildings and shops.
According to initial reports, the explosion took place close to the railway gate within the city limits, prompting police and rescue teams to rush to the scene immediately.
Due to the coordinated action and strict surveillance of security agencies in the provincial capital Quetta, the Peshawar-bound Jaffar Express narrowly escaped a major tragedy.
According to police officials, miscreants and alleged terrorists wanted to directly target the train near Quetta Chaman Phatak, but they failed miserably in their nefarious intentions.
Police say that due to the strict security arrangements around the railway station and the high level of readiness of the agencies, the terrorists could not directly target the train.
According to officials, the nature of the explosion that occurred near Chaman Phatak on Sunday morning is being carefully determined, whether it was a suicide attack, explosives were planted, or it was a cylinder explosion.
