ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): A significant development has emerged in Azad Kashmir politics, where the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference and the United Ulema Council have officially announced an electoral alliance for the upcoming general elections.
This announcement was made during a press conference held at the National Press Club Islamabad, where the President of All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference and former Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, and the Chairman of United Ulema Council, Mufti Muhammad Waseem Raza, addressed the media.
Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan stated that electoral activities have commenced in Azad Kashmir, and the Muslim Conference aims to contest the upcoming elections with a better strategy and effective preparation.
He mentioned that the party has faced certain political challenges recently, which necessitated the formation of an electoral alliance.
He formally announced that a complete electoral alliance has been finalized between the United Ulema Council and the Muslim Conference, and both parties will jointly participate in the elections in the constituencies of Jammu, Kashmir Valley, and refugees.
“Alliance holds importance for Azad Kashmir politics”
According to him, this alliance holds significant importance for the political and parliamentary future of Azad Kashmir.
Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan further said that Azad Kashmir is an example of religious tolerance and harmony, and the Muslim Conference has always played a role in protecting Islamic identity, the finality of prophethood (Khatam-e-Nabuwat), and the ideology of Pakistan.
He reminded that the Azad Kashmir Assembly made a historic decision regarding the finality of prophethood in 1973, which is highly regarded in the Islamic world.
He said that scholars and spiritual leaders have always played a prominent role in protecting the finality of prophethood and the ideology of Pakistan.
Regarding the refugee vote, Sardar Attique said that refugees are an important political and parliamentary part of the Kashmir freedom movement, and the idea of depriving them of their right to vote is unacceptable.
He said that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah (RA) had established a special committee to represent the Kashmiri refugees, and these constituencies are the true voice of the Kashmir freedom movement.
On this occasion, Mufti Muhammad Waseem Raza, Chairman of the United Ulema Council, addressed the media and said that scholars and spiritual leaders played a historic role in the Pakistan Movement, and even today, they are united for the protection of the honour of the Prophet (PBUH), Islamic identity, madrasas, mosques, shrines, and mausoleums.
He stated that there is a need to promote unity, tolerance, and democratic values in Pakistan and Azad Kashmir, and scholars and spiritual leaders will play a role alongside the Muslim Conference in the upcoming elections.
Mufti Muhammad Waseem Raza further said that various parties of Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat, shrines, and religious personalities are also becoming part of this electoral alliance, which is bringing about a new political alignment in Azad Kashmir politics.
